The federal government of Nigeria has suspended its earlier directive which banned the registration and replacement of old sim cards. This development was made known on Thursday, 31st December in a statement by the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON).
The statement signed by the ALTON Chairman, Engr Gbenga Adebayo, and its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Damian Udeh, noted however that the replacement and activation of old Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards can only be done on the condition that the person must have enrolled and obtained the National Identification Number (NIN).
