A former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Sule Katagum, has said that the north had considered president Muhammadu Buhari their Mahatma Gandhi. In an interview with Punch, Katagum said that the reason he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was because the principles for which he joined the party in 2014 were no longer valid.

The presidency has declared that despite having a preferred candidate in the build-up to the presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t impose his wish on the leaders and members of the party.
